FAQS

Questions about what it’s like to work together?

Here are some of the most common questions I get from families about therapy. If you don’t see your question answered below, contact me.

  • We offer virtual sessions through our HIPAA compliant portal Simple Practice, and in person session in Walnut Creek.

  • We use SImple Practice, a HIPAA compliant portal where you can log on for your virtual, online sessions. If you are a new mom, your baby can be in session with you - it’s not a problem! If you are unable to find a confidential place in your home, you may be able to secure a connection from your car or in your backyard. That’s the beauty of online therapy!

  • Yes! We have an office in Walnut Creek.

  • All of our therapists are in network with Aetna. Some therapists are also in network with Alameda Alliance.

For out of network coverage, we offer super bills and can help walk you through navigating insurance for partial reimbursement of sessions.

Our private pay fee ranges from $150 - $180 per 50 minute session.

  • In your first appointment, we will go over your file to confirm we have all paperwork needed. We will then work together to complete your intake. At that time, you and your therapist will collaborate in forming a treatment plan with measurable goals that meet your specific needs.

  • Unfortunately, therapy is not a process that can be calculated by specific number of sessions. Length of therapy is determined by goals you set with your therapist, and the progress you make as you work towards your goals. Initially, you will meet with you therapist on a weekly basis. As symptoms decrease, and you make progress towards your goals, sessions can be space out to bi-weekly, monthly, then graduation!

  • If you are able to pay out of pocket, rather than working with your insurance provider, you will experience greater flexibility in your treatment. You can choose how often we meet, length of treatment, and attend sessions without worry of having to have a ‘label’ or mental health diagnosis.

When working with insurance, there are rigid guidelines of the insurance companies that at times prevents an individualized treatment approach, which I feel all my clients deserve.

If you have a PPO-type plan and want to submit a claim for out-of-network reimbursement, I can give you a receipt, or a “superbill.”

Please note that submitting an insurance claim means I will need to give you a mental health diagnosis, which goes into your permanent health record.
